Performance

Key areas of responsibility for the Performance Service

Performance Indicators

Services use performance indicators to measure and monitor how well they are delivering against their objectives and priorities.  Performance indicators should be honest and unambiguous (they should mean what they appear to mean) and they should help service managers to identify and target areas of underperformance as well as recognise and celebrate areas of good performance.

Target Setting

Targets are set for all performance indicators; targets are precise, quantified statements of what the Council wants to achieve in a specified time frame and often relate to the level and quality of service that service users and partners can expect the Council Measuring Performanceto provide.

A good target should:

  • Be achievable, but also stretch the organisation
  • Be easily understood
  • Have the commitment of Council Members and staff
  • Be readily measurable
  • Have a named officer responsible for its achievement

For more information on performance indicators and target setting follow this link

PerformancePlus

The Council uses a system called PerformancePlus Local Authority to effectively manage performance for the Council.  This single, unifying system helps to improve communication and understanding; with members, staff, and other organisations about the Council’s multiple performance frameworks and measures. It also vastly improves upon the collection and reporting of performance data.
