The EAL service provides advice and guidance for schools to enable them to support children and young people for whom English is an additional language in response to EAL pupils’ diverse learning needs.
Support is offered for beginners and early stage learners up to advanced bilinguals who require intervention to raise their attainment. Support at initial Welcome meetings, parent booklets translated into first language and termly newsletters to keep schools updated are offered as part of the service
Schools can request support by completing the online or paper SEND Support Services ‘Request for Support ‘ form as well as the accompanying parental consent form.
